What is patch test:

A patch test is a simple and essential procedure used to determine how your skin will react to a new skincare product or cosmetic before applying it to a larger area. It involves applying a small amount of the product onto a small, inconspicuous area of your skin, typically the inner forearm or behind the ear. This helps you identify any potential allergic reactions, irritations, or sensitivities that might occur when the product comes into contact with your skin.

How To Perform a patch test:

1. Choose a Test Area:

Select a small area of your skin, preferably on the inner forearm or behind the ear, that is clean and free from any other products.

2. Apply the Product:

Apply a small amount of the product you want to test to the chosen area. It's best to use a cotton swab or your fingertip to ensure precise application.

3. Wait:

Allow the product to remain on your skin for about 24 to 48 hours. During this time, avoid washing the area.

4. Observe:

Keep an eye on the test area for any signs of redness, itching, swelling, or irritation. If you notice any adverse reactions during this period, it's an indication that your skin may not tolerate the product well.

5. Proceed with Caution:

If no reactions occur during the test period, you can consider the product safe to use on a larger area of your skin. However, always use new products cautiously and monitor your skin for any delayed reactions that might occur after extended use.
